Ricepad was an impulse buy.. But this piece of software could be useful when it will have some more features. It seems that you want to hear new ideas. Here are a few:

– It needs a perfect loop option for resampling (I tried setting quantisation to one bar but it had no effect)

– It needs modulation effects in the sampler (especially velocity, pitch and offset) – this could be implemented in the sequencer

The following would be nice:

– swing and groove quantisation

– pad should be more responsive (there's too much delay)

– app needs to be redesigned (a bit brighter and more stylized)

– importing more than one sample and saving kits

– and some settings for the sequencer (swing/groove/lenght of pattern/random/etc)

Hi, and thanks for your comment.

I opened this forum to have an idea of your impressions. I already have a lot of plans for Ricepad, but you can always have the illumination I haven't had. I will consider every post but don't expect to see the features to be implemented soon: I'd like to have much more time and resources to work on this project.

Here's a couple of notes about your points

resampling can be quantized. If you couldn't resample with the correct timing you probably had the previous modules not quantized.

the delay you're noting is due to the quantization which by default is set to 1/16. If you remove the quantization you're really not likely to perceive such delay. The overall latency is below 10ms for models newer than the iPod Touch 2G (actually it depends on the speed of the CPU that is detected) and around 11-12 ms for the others.

I will consider the other suggestions you made. Some of them are already in the to-do list.

Thank you for your quick response.

I want THE loop to be exactly 1, 2, 3, etc bars. THE nOtes are quantised, but de loop endpoint not. Or am I doing something wrong?

In the Sampler module you can record the loop in two ways:

1) While holding the arm button: press a clip button to start recording and release it to end the recording.

2) While holding the arm button press a clip button, then release the arm button. At this point when you release the clip button you won't end the recording. Instead, you end it by pressing a second time the clip button.

Both the events of starting and ending a recording are quantized. If you want to loop 3 bars you can resample with the quantization set to 1/1 (1 bar, that is the longest time of quantization available), ending the recording during the third bar (so that the quantization function will end the recording at the end of it).

Maybe you're asking to extend the options of quantization timings, adding 2, 3 and 4 bars?

I've got THE app a month. THE copy function doesn't work with looptastic. I would love to see this work in THE future. And THE sequencer could use some functions like swing, offset, pitch, velocity. These things Will make it à fantastic app. These days I use voicejam a lot. That is à brilliant app. Now with audiopast.

Currently Looptastic supports only Sonoma Wireworks copy/paste while Ricepad implements the Intua's protocol. I'll put this feature in the (long) list of feature requests!
